The Crown Unleash “Motordeath” Single, Announce New Album, Royal Destroyer
Cobra Speed Venom, the 2018 album by Swedish death metal champions The Crown, was friggin’ fantastic, an unexpected return to form that landed a spot on my year-end list for its mix of, um, speed, venom and… (sike!) excellent songwriting.
Can The Crown turn in a repeat performance? “Motordeath,” the first single from their forthcoming new album, Royal Destroyer, offers an early indication that the answer is a resounding yes.
Bassist Magnus Olsfelt explains of the new record:
“It is our album number ten, so now we are in the big boys club. I think it in some ways is our crowning achievement, and it encompasses our sound across all albums on one defining record. It’s got it all – the early ’90s death metal stuff, the haunting melodies, the thrash, the punk, the grind, the heavy metal and the more epic and doomy stuff.”
Count me in! Especially if there’s more like “Motordeath” in store.
Stream the single below (along with a video). Royal Destroyer arrives March 12 via Metal Blade and can be pre-ordered here.
