Mastodon Help Unveil New Viking-Inspired Magic: The Gathering Set

It has been said that Magic: The Gathering is “metal AF.” I will have to take the word of others on that. But assuming you agree, you will probably be delighted to learn that the game is launching a new, Viking-inspired set, Kaldheim, and they appear to have enlisted a number of notable metal bands to help them unveil cards from that collection.

First up: Mastodon, who made the below, characteristically silly video “premiering” the first few cards.

(More excitingly, at least for some of us, is the fact that Mastodon made the clip while in the studio, where they’re recording new music.)

If the official Kaldheim “Week of Metal” Spotify playlist (also below) is any indication (and the fact that it contains exactly seven bands suggests that it is), other bands set to unveil cards in the coming days will include Amon Amarth, Torche, Smoulder, Oceans of Slumber, Angra, and Rhapsody of Fire.
