Alice Cooper Calls His New Single “One of the Oddest Songs I’ve Ever Done”

Alice Cooper calls “Our Love Will the Change the World,” his new single, “one of the oddest songs I’ve ever done.” That might seem like an exaggeration — especially coming from 72-year-old man who has made his living as one of the first “shock rockers” — but it’s not. The song isn’t “odd” in the sense that, say, Winny Puhh are odd, but it’s certainly an outlier for Cooper, much more The Beatles’ “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” than “Election” of “Feed My Frankenstein.”

Here’s the full statement from Cooper:

“I think ‘Our Love Will Change the World’ is one of the oddest songs I’ve ever done and it was one that came to us by somebody else, another Detroit writer. And it was so strange, because it was happy and what it was saying was anything but happy – it was simply a great juxtaposition. And I got it immediately and said ‘okay, this is going to be great.’ The music saying one thing and the lyrics saying something else, I love that song. It is totally different from anything else on the album.”

This is actually the third new song Cooper has released in 2020, after “Rock and” “Don’t Give Up,” the incredibly saccharine song he debuted this past May. Fortunately, that track won’t be on Detroit Stories.
