Exclusive Cinemetal Premiere: Bound’s “The Lot”

Bound are musical proof that less is more. On their sophomore effort, Haunts, the Washington, D.C. quartet create shoegaze/post-punk soundscapes that are often sparse and always… well… frankly, there’s no other word for it: haunting. Think of a more anguished Jesu crossed with Junius at their dreamiest and you’ll have some idea of what you’re in for.

(Incidentally, Haunts was produced and engineered by Will Benoit, a frequent Junius collaborator, along with Kris Hilbert).

By way of example, MetalSucks is thrilled to premiere the music video for the Haunts track “The Lot.” Much of the song is mesmerically minimalist… which makes the sudden gut punches of concentrated, bristling noise all the more wrenching. Bound are a band that earn their moments of loud. And the video for “The Lot” is appropriately austere, a stream-of-consciousness tone poem that often concentrates, quite literally, on an empty lot.
