Members of Anthrax, Korn, Mastodon and More Cover Faith No More to Benefit Out-of-Work Roadies
Touring crew are some of the folks hardest hit by the pandemic — right up there with venue staff and, of course, musicians — already out of work for most of this year with no end in sight. To that end, a “Save the Roadies” GoFundMe is underway to help offer assistance to these hard-working people who bring the concerts we love so much to life.
To help bring visibility to that effort, members of Anthrax, Korn, Mastodon, Refused, Quicksand, Filter and Run DMC have teamed up for a cover of Faith No More’s “We Care A Lot.” What’s more, the band’s own Billy Gould makes a cameo appearance. The song’s message is startlingly appropriate.
Fundraiser organizer Chad Ward explains of what motivated him to launch the campaign:
“My goal with this go fund me is to offer some relief to some of the dedicated people I have worked with in the last 27 years. Just like you they have families, mortgages, car payments, and day care. Commonly, these workers lean on their savings between tour cycles, but those funds have run thin or out. Just like you, the pandemic sent this people into uncharted territory. This go fund me is designed to help them navigate these waters.
“I have contacted congressmen and women, senators, and governors and have been met with no solutions. Their replies are a formal brushoff. A dead end.”
