Is This the Title of the New AC/DC Album?

Although the band has yet to officially announce anything, we are now 99% sure they are teasing a new album… and, oh hey lookee, we may even know what that album is called now.

To review: the surviving members of the band’s Back in Black line-up — guitarist Angus Young, vocalist Brian Johnson, bassist Cliff Williams, and drummer Phil Rudd (and possibly a posthumous appearance by the late Malcolm Young, Angus’ brother and co-guitarist) — have long been (credibly) rumored to be working on a follow-up to 2014’s Rock or Bust. They recently shared, by accident, what look to be stills from a music video shoot. And just yesterday, they shared a brief, enigmatic video of the lightning bolt from their logo flickering on and off.

Now someone has put up a poster with that very same lightning bolt and the words ‘ARE YOU READY SYD PWR UP,’ outside the Ashfield Boys High School near Sydney, Australia… which is notable for being the alma mater of one Mr. Angus Young.

The poster also includes a URL for a new website which also encourages fans to “Power Up” (and join an e-mail list for further updates).

Is This the Title of the New AC/DC Album?

The logical conclusion is that the new AC/DC album is, in fact, called Power Up. Which is a great name for an AC/DC album! The band has a long (and wholly appropriate, given their name) history of electricity-themed album titles, including High Voltage (1975), Powerage (1978), and Flick of the Switch (1983).

At the rate the band is going, I wouldn’t be shocked if we got to hear a single (and presumably see that music video) by the end of the week. Stay tuned…
