Matt Heafy Credits M. Shadows With Saving His Voice

Here’s an interesting lil’ story. If you love Trivium, this will make you wanna send M. Shadows a box of chocolates. If you hate Trivium, this will make you wanna send M. Shadows a box of shit.

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Trivium’s Matt Heafy credits the Avenged Sevenfold frontman with saving his voice:

“I blew my voice out, and Matt from Avenged Sevenfold texted me and said, ‘I heard you blew your voice out; let me know if I can help.’ That blew me away. I asked him what he did when he hurt his voice. He put me in contact with this singing teacher, Ron Anderson. Ron’s taught Axl Rose, Chris Cornell, Janet Jackson… not only has he taught me a correct screaming technique, but he taught me a correct singing technique, because what I’d been doing for 15 years was incorrect, and I was on the brink of destroying my voice.”

This story doesn’t just make me feel all warm and mushy inside — it also makes me realize how much I’d like to see an A7X/Trivium tour. Granted, right now, I’d like to see almost any tour. But I think these are two very talented bands that have taken a lot of shit over the years for no particularly good reason. It would be fun to celebrate their success despite all the negativity.
