Greg Puciato Streams New Song Featuring Converge’s Ben Koller

Way, way back in 2007, when promoting The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ire Works, Greg Puciato told MetalSucks how he comes up with song titles:

“Well what I try to do with song titles – and this probably won’t make sense to a lot of people – I try to name songs like not what they have to do with lyrically, but more what they feel like, you know what I mean? Like if you look at the song, and it makes me feel a certain way, I’ll try to find [a title] that goes along with that, just vibe-wise. When you’re listening to the song and you look at the title, I want the title to feel like the song, not necessarily having anything to do with the lyrics.”

I thought about this as soon as I saw the title of Puciato’s new single, “Roach Hiss” (which features Ben Koller, of Converge/ Mutoid Man/ All Pigs Must Die/ Killer Be Killed renown, on drums). I simply could not wait to hit “play” on this track and see what, in Puciato’s mind at least, it feels like when a roach hisses. (P.S. I just learned that there are, in fact, cockroaches that hiss. Some people even keep them as pets. Yuck.)

I was not disappointed.

Pretty boss, yeah?

“Roach Hiss” will appear on Puciato’s debut solo album, Child Soldier: Creator of God, which comes out October 23 on Federal Prisoner. You can pre-order it here.
