System of a Down and Mindless Self Indulgence Vocalists Release Fuktronic Album
System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian and Mindless Self Indulgence vocalist Jimmy Urine have been teasing their collaborate electronic/dance project Fuktronic since at least 2012. Inspired by British gangster films, the soundtrack-without-a-movie was slated for release on Record Store Day in April, but with that postponed until June 20 the duo has gone ahead with the digital release anyway via Serj’s own Serjical Strike Records.
Says Tankian of the project:
“Jimmy and I cooked up the idea one day while we were laughing about how over the top that genre of film is, with their seedy characters and curse laden dialogue. So, we decided to create our own cast of characters, write them a loose storyline full of F-Bombs and worse, then hit the studio to create this soundtrack.”
