About That Brent Hinds + Matt Pike Collaboration

Color me fooled! When Mastodon’s Brent Hinds and High on Fire’s Matt Pike announced a collaboration back in February, featuring a photo of the duo sitting on a porch with guitars in hand, we all assumed the all-star collab would produce new music of some sort. I did, anyway.

Alas, it’s a guitar pedal, as revealed by Hinds in a post to Instagram yesterday. The Unicorn Blood II pedal is being manufactured by KHDK, Kirk Hammett’s pedal enterprise, and it’s a fuzz, which makes sense for these particular players. Dark Matter Coffee is also somehow involved in the collaboration, and there’s a video teaser featuring both Hinds and Pike jamming with the pedal below.

Not as cool as a country swing album by Hinds and Pike, sure. But still, pretty neat! You can order yourself one right here.
