Brooklyn Metal Bar Lucky 13 Needs Your Help!
The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the live music and hospitality industries, with thousands of businesses that were booming as recently as two months ago falling by the wayside daily. New York is still a month or so away from beginning to reopen, it isn’t clear if bars will be part of that, and social distancing measures are gonna make it hard for them to allow enough people in to turn a profit even if they are allowed to reopen. It’s fucking tough, to say the least.
Brooklyn metal mainstay Lucky 13, which is both a bar and live music venue, has launched a GoFundMe to help stay afloat during the downtime, splitting 50% of the proceeds between operational costs (rent and such) and providing for their staff. A brief message from the owners explains:
“My fellow metal heads let’s keep Lucky 13 Saloon rockin’! If you’re able to, please consider donating. 50% of donations will go to our family & friends, the staff of Lucky 13 Saloon, and 50% will go towards operational costs to keep the doors open. Stay safe & stay metal! \m/ #SmallBusinessRelief”
If you can, please consider donating right here. If you can’t, no worries! Hopefully we see Lucky 13 open and buzzing — safely, of course — sooner rather than later. The staff at Lucky 13 has always been super accommodating to your MetalSucks editors going back to when they were still in Park Slope, and we look forward to many more late nights.
