This Obscure Late ’90s / Early ’00s Nu-Metal Live Show YouTube Channel is a Gold Mine

Those making the argument that nu-metal is back by pointing to the continued popularity of groups like Korn, Limp Bizkit and System of a Down haven’t really sold me — those bands never really went away. And the young bands on the scene that incorporate nu-metal into their sound, like Vein and Code Orange, do it in a way that mixes the new with the old; it’s not a pure re-hash.

No… THIS is the proof: the newly minted Liberated Tape Archive YouTube channel, which mines from the true depths of nu-metal lore. The channel currently has entire live sets from the late ’90s and early ’00s from such C-level nu-metal upstarts as Stereomud, Econoline Crush, From Zero, Ultraspank, Dry Kill Logic, Darwin’s Waiting Room, Lollipop Lust Kill and our old friends Flaw, to name but a few, as well as some more successful acts (Sevendust, Taproot, Dope, Coal Chamber) and some heavier bands in their infancy that were kicking around the same scene at the time like Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Avenged Sevenfold and Chimaira.

But it’s the first bands I listed that are the true appeal here! I legit got pulled into that Stereomud set (they played “Pain” last, naturally, encouraging the audience to call their local radio station to request it), I’m about to dive into Stuck Mojo, and I’ve got 3rd Strike queued up after that. THIS is the quarantine entertainment we truly need!
