Voyager Post Absolutely Gorgeous “Runaway” Video
Voyager have released a new video for “Runaway,” one of the standout tracks on an album full of them, 2019’s Colours in the Sun. I’ve been screaming it from the rooftops ever since the record came out, and it even made my Best of 2019 list, but here I go again, just in case: Colours in the Sun is phenomenal! If you enjoy both synth pop and metal, get the fuck in here.
The video was filmed in the band’s native Western Australia and was directed by DarkSpiritPhotography, another absolutely gorgeous visual entry in the band’s canon (following “Colours” from the same album). A preview of the clip appeared on Eurovision last month when the band was shortlisted for the show but didn’t make the final cut, receiving a brief tribute on an episode anyway.
Vocalist/keyboardist Danny Estrin reveals that “Runaway” is actually about his keytars:
“Both my keytars and I were born in the ’80s. There’s something about this generation that has carried through my musical influences (and love for cars) and is pretty evident in the material Voyager are writing today. Being in a band is a journey in itself, and my personal journey has always seen my keytars accompany me all around the world (sometimes in less than mint condition). It was only fitting that we pay a tribute to such an integral part of Voyager’s sound and image in our video for ‘Runaway’, and we hope our fans continue to follow us and be a part of our history, and our future.”
