Watch: MLB Catcher Caleb Joseph Air Drums to Rush’s “Spirit of Radio,” Nails It

0

Spring training is a time for baseball players to return to the grind, get in shape and ready themselves for the long season ahead. But the light atmosphere, especially in the beginning of camp before games begin, also provides a chance for players to goof off a bit and get to know one another. Anything is possible!! Positivity is in the air!!

To wit: Toronto Blue Jays catcher Caleb Joseph recently assembled a mock drum kit comprised of upside down buckets, cones and other odds and ends, and, using sawed off bat handles as sticks, proceeded to put on a show for his teammates by air drumming along to Rush’s “Spirit of Radio.” One doesn’t take on an impersonation of the late, great Neil Peart with knowing one’s shit, and to that end Joseph did not disappoint: he completely nailed every fill, every accent, every hand-muted cymbal hit! Mwah! [chef’s kiss]

Watch assembled clips from the performance below, which include the catcher’s teammates gathering around to watch the show and clapping along, as well as a few spirited bat flips / stick flips by the catcher.
