Bring Me the Horizon Dressed up as the Spice Girls for the BRIT Awards

Bring Me the Horizon’ll tell you what they want, what they really, really want: more female nominees for the BRIT (British Record Industry Trusts Show) Awards. Critics have been understandably pissed at the lack of women nominated for this year’s honors, with the BBC reporting that “The shortlist for best album [was] exclusively male; while only one woman – Mabel – [was] nominated in categories where both men and women are eligible.” Which. Y’know. Sucks.

So Bring Me the Horizon, who were nominated in the “Best Group” category, staged their own form of not-so-subtle criticism of the lack of female nominees: they wore outfits that paid homage to the Spice Girls.

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of BMTH — or the Spice Girls for that matter — but I gotta say, that’s both clever and cool. Here’s hoping it has the intended impact.
