Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo Announce SECOND Classic Covers Concert
The Wedding Band — a classic covers project featuring lead by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo along with singer Whitfield Crane (Ugly Kid Joe), drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens of the Stone Age), and guitarist Doc Coyle (Bad Wolves, ex-God Forbid) — have announced their second-ever show… which is extra-notable because they were never meant to play a second-ever show.
The quintet’s first show, which took place in Richmond, ON last year, was supposed to be their only show. But now they’ve announced another concert, which has been set for March 8 at The Senate in Columbia, SC.
The line-up remains mostly intact, with Hammett, Trujillo, Crane, and Coyle all returning. But there are two new faces: it sounds like current Queens of the Stone Age drummer Jon Theodore (who is also formerly of The Mars Volta), and “guest vocalist” Bobby Patterson. Assuming I have the right Bobby Patterson, he’s the most interesting addition to the group, ’cause he’s 75-years-old, and known for soul music, not rock or metal.
Tickets are on sale now. General admission is about thirty bucks… but if you’re willing to pay ten times that get the VIP treatment, you’ll also have access to a meet and greet with Hammett, one Wedding Band t-shirt, one mini 8×10” “Anatomical Kirk” print to be signed, one “It’s Alive” Columbia Museum of Art It’s Alive! exhibition branded guitar pick tin, early entry to the venue, and early merch stand shopping.
