Poppy to Release New Comic Book Series, Damnation: Poppy’s Inferno
Poppy starred in a graphic novel series released last year entitled Genesis 1, a collaboration with writer Ryan Cady (Infinite Dark). Z2 Comics has just announced that the duo will be back for round two this year with the four-part graphic novel series Damnation: Poppy’s Inferno, set to arrive in July.

“In Genesis 1, Poppy and writer Ryan Cady (Infinite Dark) tackled themes of influence through a dissection of the relationship of fans and enthusiasts to the art on which they cast their own hope and belief. Damnation: Poppy’s Inferno continues down this path, this time putting Poppy in a story in which there are those who literally seek to control and change her for their own purposes and leading her through the depths of hell itself. Damnation 1 trades science fiction for horror, in another thought-provoking yet satirical look at fame.

Reading that description, I can’t help but wonder whether Poppy’s turbulent relationship with producer Titanic Sinclair plays into the storyline at all, perhaps in veiled metaphor… but that’s just speculation. At least this time the story wouldn’t be published without her consent like an upcoming episode of Hulu’s Into the Dark show.
