Lamb of God’s Mark Morton Streams New Song “All I Had to Lose”
Get out the hankies: Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton has released “All I Had to Lose,” the first single from his forthcoming, “primarily acoustic” EP, Ether, and it… is… a… TEAR JERKER. In a press release, Morton calls the track “one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written,” and that certainly comes through in both the lyrics and music. And the painfully soulful vocals, by Sons of Texas’ Mark Morales, really seal the deal. If the rest of Ether is this emotional I may never be able to hear the whole thing over the sounds of my own sobbing and snotting. Jesus Christ.
Go get a box of tissues and then listen to “All I had to Lose” below. Ether comes out January 17 on Rise Records, and can be pre-ordered here. In addition to Morales, the EP features guest spots from Howard Jones (Light the Torch, ex-Killswitch Engage), John Carbone (Moon Tooth), and, on a cover of The Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels,” Lzzy Hale (Halestorm). Morales also guests on a cover of Pearl Jam’s “Black,” another song that’s already prone to giving me the weepies. Seriously guys this EP is gonna just fucking wreck me, I can already tell. Shit.
Morton is currently touring the U.K. Remaining dates are as follows:
1/10 – Glasgow, UK @ Cathouse
1/11 – Birmingham, UK @ O2 Academy 2
1/12 – London, UK @ Camden Underworld
