Lorna Shore Cancel Tour, Can’t Comment on Their Future

If you managed to stay away from the Internet for the holidays… well, first of all, good for you. Second of all, you may not have heard that deathcore outfit Lorna Shore abruptly fired their vocalist, CJ McCreery, in the wake of accusations of sexual and emotional abuse levied against the frontman by multiple women. And while there’s never a “good time” to learn a member of your band may be a total creep, this was an especially bad time for such a thing to happen to Lorna Shore: their Century Media debut and first album with McCreery, Immortal, is set for release on January 31, and the band had plans to tour Asia this month.

Unsurprisingly, those tour dates of Asia have now been cancelled. Furthermore, a statement from the band makes it sound as though Immortal‘s future — if not the very future of the band — may be in doubt:

“ASIA :

“We are deeply saddened to announce that we will NOT be playing the shows we had scheduled there this month. Ourselves, and the booking agent tried everything we could to make this happen, but unfortunately it just couldn’t work.

“We promise to be back soon. We love you all and are very sorry we couldn’t make this happen.

“Edit: everyone asking about the album/future. you will know when we know. at this moment, there are discussions but nothing we can comment on.

“all we ask is please be patient.

“this will all be addressed soon.”

I would imagine for Immortal to ever see the light of day, the vocals will have to be re-recorded by a different frontman (at minimum — if McCreery wrote the album’s lyrics, the band may wanna toss those, too). If I was a Lorna Shore admirer, I would not expect to hear Immortal on January 31. McCreery’s presence on the record would be a distraction at best, and I doubt many people would want to actively give the band money to which the vocalist might be legally entitled despite the allegations against him. That’s too bad for fans, but they should keep in mind the larger picture here, which is the suffering of McCreery’s accusers. Delaying, re-purposing, or scraping Immortal altogether is a comparatively small price to pay.

Meanwhile, the band hasn’t commented on a run of European live dates they currently have scheduled for March. You’ll know more when we do.
