They Found Randy Rhoads’ Stolen Gear WHERE?!?!

In case ya missed it: over the weekend, Ozzy Osbourne offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the retrieval of a buncha vintage Randy Rhoads gear, which was stolen from The Musonia School of Music (where Rhoads taught guitar) on Thanksgiving. Stolen items included, but were not limited to, Rhoads’ first electric guitar, an amp head he used with Quiet Riot, and a rare prototype of a Rhoads signature Marshall head.

Well, I’ve got good news and not-great news. The good news is, the stolen equipment has been recovered.

The not-great news is the equipment was found a North Hollywood dumpster by a woman who was walking her dog. I mean as far as I know the equipment is still okay, it’s just that putting Randy Rhoads’ gear in a dumpster should lead to an automatic life sentence IMO.

Bobbi Fredriksz, the hero who spotted these precious cultural artifacts, tells ABC7.com that at first, she left the gear in the dumpster, failing to realize its importance. Then she saw the story about the stolen equipment on the news:

“I was laying in bed [later], not feeling well, when [the story] came on I was like wait a minute, oh my God. I ran all the way back over here it was still here. Somebody else started to see it and called police.”

I assume the reason the Rhoads memorabilia got left in a dumpster is because the thief or (more likely, given the amount of stuff stolen) thieves saw the news and realized they probably wouldn’t be able to actually sell any of this stuff without getting busted. Then again, they robbed a music school on Thanksgiving, so maybe they’re just heartless pricks and never really cared about what they were taking in the first place.
