Watch Jerry Cantrell Perform Alice in Chains Songs with Greg Puciato (Ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Make a short list of guest musicians you’d expect to join Jerry Cantrell on stage for a guest vocal spot, and Greg Puciato, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan / currently The Black Queen, likely wouldn’t be on it. But sometimes it’s the most unlikely collaborations that end up working out best, and it’s not like Puciato isn’t a super-talented vocalist; I just wouldn’t think of them as being in the same sphere.
But so it went at Jerry’s recent solo show, which took place at the Pico Union Project in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, December 6, when Puciato joined Cantrell on stage for several songs, including the Chains classics “Would?” and “Down in a Hole,” (tackling Layne Stayley’s parts) and a cover of “Who’ll Stop the Rain” by John Fogerty. Terra Lopez (Rituals of Mine), Gil Sharone (also ex-Dillinger, ex-Marilyn Manson), composer/producer Tyler Bates and others also joined Cantrell for the set, which included material from Cantrell’s solo career and additional covers on top of the AIC tunes.
Watch some fan-filmed footage below as you bemoan the jackass who did it for filming in vertical mode (it’s nearly 2020, get it together, people!).
