Listen: Ozzy and Slash Go “Straight to Hell”

Ozzy Osbourne has released a new song called “Straight to Hell,” which we all knew was probably coming, probably. What we didn’t know is that the Sabbath-esque track features a ripping guest solo from Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. Since Duff McKagan plays bass on the entirety of Ozzy’s new album, Ordinary Man, that also makes the track something of a Velvet Revolver/ “What if…?” scenario.

This is actually Ozzy and Slash’s second collaboration, after the song “Crucify the Dead,” from Slash’s eponymous solo semi-debut (I mean the Slash’s Snakepit records weren’t technically solo albums but c’mon yes they were). The lyrical focus here seems to be substance abuse, a topic about which both Ozzy and Slash know quite a bit, although who knows if Ozzy took that into account when recruiting the Slashter. I do think Ozzy deserves points for the best use ever of the word “defecate” in a mainstream rock song. I mean other than “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” obvi.

Listen to “Straight to Hell” below. The first single can from Ordinary Man, “Under the Graveyard,” can be jammed here. (“Under the Graveyard”… “Straight to Hell”… I’m starting to see a theme here.) Ordinary Man still doesn’t have an official release date other than “early 2020.” In addition to McKagan, the album features Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums and Post Malone producer Andrew Watt on guitar. Ozzy’s repeatedly-postponed farewell tour finally resumes in February. Get dates and tickets for the U.S., U.K., and European legs of the trek here.
