Teenage Environmental Activist Greta Thunberg’s UN Speech Turned into a Swedish Death Metal Song
Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist whose passionate, furious speech at the UN has been the second-most popular general news story as of late (hey, no one was gonna upstage the Trump/Ukraine scandal), is a goddamn hero. Her speech made such waves that it has the right shitting their collective pants, trotting out the old “crisis actor” bullshit again and calling her a “brat” and “Lisa Simpson crossed with Bane.” Will the speech ultimately be the turning point at which humanity finally started to take climate change seriously? Probably not! People are lousy, and seemingly determined to bring about our species’ extinction as quickly as they can manage it.
Still, Thunberg is admirable, and certainly worthy of her own Swedish death metal song. Which is exactly what she now has, thanks to YouTuber John Mollusk, who has turned the UN speech into just such a track. And while the results might not be quite up to the level of Entombed or At the Gates, they’re still better than the last ten years of music from In Flames. So that’s something!
