Exclusive: Stream No One Knows What the Dead Think’s Self-Titled Debut!
MetalSucks has been watering at the mouth to hear No One Knows What the Dead Think’s eponymous debut since it was first announced over the summer. Why? Simple! The new project reunites Jon Chang (vocals) and Rob Marton (guitars) from Discordance Axis — arguably one of the best grindcore bands of all time — along with Cohol drummer Kyosuke Nakano. With that kind of pedigree, what metal fan wouldn’t wanna hear this bad boy?
And we know we’re not the only ones who felt such excitement for No One Knows What the Dead Think’s arrival. So we come bearing terrific news: MetalSucks is exclusively streaming the entire thing right here, right now. Furthermore, the album is everything we’d hoped for and then some. It doesn’t sound exactly Discordance Axis — it’s still whirlwind-fast and disembowelingly brutal, sure, but it also feels at once more technical, more melodic, and dare we say more controlled than that band’s work. It’s actually similar to the creative evolution undergone by another great Jon Chang project, Gridlink, whose final album, Longhena, also found ways to maintain the general ugliness of grind while injecting it with a unique sense of harmony. The fact that these dudes can pull off that balance, alone, proves that they are some very special, very talented fellas. No One Knows What the Dead Think is, without question, one of the best grind albums of 2019.
So what are you waiting for? Stream No One Knows What the Dead Think’s eponymous debut below! The album comes out Friday, September 20 on Willowtip. You can pre-order physical copies here and the digital download here!!!
