Slipknot Post New Song “Birth Of The Cruel”

Lucky me — I get to write about Slipknot twice today (more coming later)! On the downside, there’s only so many snarky things I can say about Corey and the gang in one sitting, so I’ll just get to the point here. They’ve shared a new single + music video from their upcoming album, We Are Not Your Kind, which comes out this Friday. Get pumped!

“Birth Of The Cruel” features a portrait mode visualizer that showcases Slipknot’s new stark-white outfits. While not having anything close to a narrative, the video is sufficiently creepy, and at the risk of being too honest, I actually like the boiler suits. Any artists that can flaunt all-white clothes while also not being Michael Jackson gets bonus points in my book — though Corey Taylor’s new mask is a different story.

The band comments on the upcoming record: “These days the art we are making comes with the highest reward, because it’s taken the most time. Almost four years to create this emotion and temperature, and the reward now is nothing short of salvation.”
