Exclusive Video Premiere: Beyond Grace’s “Barmecide Feast” (Featuring Matt Moss of Slugdge)
Some bands bitch and moan about the state of the world… and some bands try to change it. Nottingham’s Beyond Grace fall into the latter category. Earlier this month, the cutting edge death metal band released an absolutely gutting new single, “Barmecide Feast,” featuring Matt Moss from perennial MetalSucks faves Slugdge. As its title suggests, the track deals with starvation and poverty. But the band isn’t just bellyaching about the indignity of hunger; they’re literally putting their money where other people’s mouths are, donating all proceeds made from the single to local food banks.
Needless to say, MS loves nothing more than a band that combines killer music with a killer ethos. So when the band asked us if we’d like to premiere the lyric video for the “Barmecide Feast,” it was a no brainer for us! You can check out the clip below.
Says Beyond Grace of the song:
“In The Arabian Nights there’s a story where a beggar is taken in by a rich man and served an imaginary meal and, after playing along with the illusion, is ultimately rewarded with a life of luxury and opulence.
“Of course, in the real world, this isn’t what happens. We wait and we wait, but nothing changes. We’re just told to do more with less, to keep our mouths shut, even as those upstream do their best to dam the river so that all that reaches us is the merest trickle of the wealth they’ve hoarded.”
“Barmecide Feast” will appear on Beyond Grace’s sophomore album, Our Kingdom Undone, which was produced by Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott, and will be out later this year. In the meantime, you should purchase “Barmecide Feast” here… because how often do you get to purchase great music and help a great cause?
