Cliff Burton’s Father Pays Tribute to His Son on Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to everyone out there in the metal masses! New fathers, old fathers, fathers that were, fathers to be, your father, someone else’s father — we’re an all-inclusive bunch here at MetalSucks.

To celebrate, here’s a video Gibson Guitars just published that features Ray Burton, father of the late, great, Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, speaking about his son and what it meant to be the father of a child who chose to pursue a career in music.

The 94-year-old elder Burton continues to donate his son’s royalty checks (from the albums Kill ’em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets) to a music scholarship at Castro Valley High School, Cliff’s alma mater.
