Miley Cyrus Releases Video for Poppy Cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole” with Upbeat Lyrics

Last week, the world was treated to a most unexpected cover in the form of Miley Cyrus doing a fairly straightforward rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole.” The cover was done as part of the latest season of Black Mirror; at the time of its release, it was reported that in the actual episode, Cyrus — playing ‘Ashely O.’ — performs a version of the song, “On a Roll,” that is considerably poppier, and features new, more mainstream-friendly lyrics to boot:  “Hey there, whoah-ho, I’m on a roll / Riding so high, achieving my goals / I’m so stoked on ambition and verve / I’m gonna get what I deserve.”

That other, poppier version of the song is now available for your listening pleasure, along with the accompanying ‘Ashley O.’ music video, which is a dead ringer for any actual pop video you’ll see these days. Like, you could probably convince someone out of the loop that this is truly Miley’s latest single.
