Darkthrone, Ozzy and Misfits Vinyl Among Most Expensive Items Sold on Discogs.com

It’s one thing to collect vinyl, but it’s another altogether to be willing to shell out $2,000 (or more!) for a single record. Do people who drop such serious coin on records do so out of an insatiable desire to own that piece of memorabilia, or is it simply a financial bet that they’ll be able to turn it around for even more in the future? There are both kinds of collectors, I suppose.

In any case, Discogs.com just released their list of the 30 most expensive albums sold through the platform in the month of April. And while nothing heavy came close to the $5,000 tally the #1 entry brought in — a copy of the album Ceremony by obscure Japanese funk-rock band People — a handful of metal and punk records made the cut:

#29: Darkthrone – Transylvanian Hunger – $1,348.00
#28: Ozzy – Diary of a Madman – $1,383.00
#24: Led Zeppelin – Over the Hills and Far Away – $1,494.00
#10: The Misfits – Bullet 7″ – $1,999.00
#8: The Misfits – Bullet 7″ – $2,000.00
