Slipknot’s New Percussionist Might Be Clown’s Son Simon Crahan [UPDATE: He Denies It]
Update, 4:01pm EDT: Simon posted a message on his Instagram story with the text “Guys I didn’t join Slipknot.” Oh well. Take that as you will.
Original Post:
While Slipknot and former percussionist Chris Fehn remain locked in a legal battle, the band has moved ahead with a replacement, giving him the generic mask treatment other new members have endured upon joining The Nine. Also consistent with the way the band introduced bassist Allesandro Venturella and drummer Jay Weinberg in recent years: they’re not telling us who the fuck is behind that mask.
With fan speculation running rampant, the theory with the most heft behind it holds that Simon Crahan, the son of percussionist / conceptual leader M. Shawn Crahan (aka Clown), has taken Fehn’s place in the band’s new video for “Unsainted.” While Simon is only 15 years old, two recent posts on his Instagram hint at his participation with Slipknot, although it’s certainly possible he was just hanging out with dad at band rehearsal or whatever. The PRP also reminds us that Clown stated several years ago he’d like for his other son, Gage, to take over for him in the band at some point.
