Uncured Release New Single “Choke” Off Upcoming Album Epidemic
Take progressive metal, groove metal, and sprinkle in some deathcore for a bit of extra sweetness and you’ve got yourself Uncured’s new single “Choke” from their upcoming album Epidemic. The track provides an assemblage of chunky caveman breakdowns that dance around the band’s signature groovy riffs and hook-fueled solos, offering excitement and a never-ending propulsion of madness. The vocals on the track deliver a medley of mixed styles and elements, so indulge me for a second and imagine that deathcore and death metal frontmen/women held an orgy and birthed fraternal brother Zak and Rex Cox. There’s really no way for you to know what that sounds like until you hit play down below.
When talking about their upcoming album release, Zak says:
“One of our objectives in writing Epidemic was to ensure that the listener is constantly propelled forward. Every song on the record is designed to deliver something different. Our first single ‘Choke’ is pure brutality, defined by pounding rhythms and massive breakdowns. All of the songs on Epidemic introduce new elements. We even add clean vocals to the mix to expand the soundscape. Throughout it all, however, Epidemic delivers Uncured’s signature groove and excitement.”
The new elements on the album Zak mentions are readily apparent in “Choke,” giving the band room to expand into new and heavier territory instead of allowing their music to be defined solely by their groove.
Epidemic is set for a release via Seek and Strike on April 19th. You can catch the band live on the upcoming Chaos & Carnage tour where they will be sharing the stage with Whitechapel, Dying Fetus, Revocation and Fallujah. Dates posted underneath the video, which was directed by the always-stellar David Brodsky.
