Watch Video of Randy Blythe’s Anti-Westboro Baptist Church Kazoo Party
Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe and an army of kazoo-wielding revelers were out in full force this morning at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, VA. Their goal: to make a mockery of the Westboro Baptist Church — the infamous “God Hates Fags” loonies — who were out protesting the election of Virginia House of Delegates member Danica Roem, a devoted metalhead, talented musician and the first trans woman to be elected to a statewide office in the U.S.
Initial video from the event posted on social media paints a picture of Randy’s kazoo party being every bit the success we could’ve hoped! Not only does his crew’s racket of plastic kazoos and makeshift drums completely drown out whatever the WBC folks are saying — all without saying a word to them — but it appears his group is several times the size of theirs with some very clever signs to boot. Way to go, metal community!
Bad Wolves and ex-God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle was amongst the kazooists, and a post on Blythe’s Instagram last night teased an appearance by a member of Gwar. Check out some footage below via Kerrang! Blythe himself also live-streamed the event from his Instagram page, which you can watch by clicking on his Stories icon and then the “Watch Live Video” option (mobile only).
Dan Argott, director of the Lamb of God’s As the Palaces Burn documentary (2014) sent out a small film crew to document the morning’s events.
