Corrosion of Conformity’s Woody Weatherman Says Doyle Should “Maybe Figure out Something Else to Do” If He Hates Meet and Greets so Much

Ever since Doyle from the Misfits made those comments about how much he hates meets and greets, all I’ve been able to think is, “Gee, those next few Doyle meet and greets are gonna be awk-ward!”. (Well, that and “I wish I hadn’t paid an exorbitant amount of money to see the Misfits with Danzig last year, you ungrateful putz.”) I wonder if anyone at any of those meet and greets will have the balls to skip over him in the autograph line with the simple explanation that “I’d hate to inconvenience you.” I wonder if Doyle would even feel any shame if someone did say that to him. I really think the dude just doesn’t get it.

One guy who definitely does get it: Corrosion of Conformity’s Woody Weatherman. Discussing Doyle’s comments in a new interview with Metal Nation Radio, the guitarist comes off as the polar opposite of the Misfit, acknowledging the changing face of the music industry, demonstrating great regard for C.O.C’s fans, and even managing to give Doyle shit while sounding relatively cool about it:

“I know Doyle is a friendly guy. But I’ll say this — if he’s that dissatisfied with it, maybe figure out something else to do. Pepper [Keenan, Corrosion of Conformity guitarist/vocalist] and I often do [meet-and-greets], and we’re doing it ’cause we enjoy meeting the fans and saying ‘What’s up?’ and getting some feedback or whatever. I don’t have any problem with it.”

Weatherman went on:

“I do get Doyle’s way of thinking, ’cause it’s tough. He’s out there and he’s doing his work and doing his thing, and maybe he feels that the modern industry is… it’s not that kind to musicians anymore. But it’s the modern world. You’ve just gotta grasp it. If you don’t like it, you’ve gotta do something else, I guess.”

Unfortunately, Weatherman did not go so far as to make any actual suggestions as to what Doyle might do for work instead. Hopefully, someone sends the Misfits guitarist this USA Today piece on “jobs for people who don’t like people.” There are some strong suggestions on here. Personally, I’d love to see Doyle as an auditor, wouldn’t you?
