Dub Trio are Back, Y’all!!!
“What the fuck ever happened to Dub Trio?” is a sentence I’ve rarely heard outside of my small circle of obsessed friends. They’re one of those bands, it seems, whose following isn’t incredibly robust, but if you’re into Dub Trio you’re way fucking into Dub Trio.
And holy shit, they are back, and I could not be happier! We’ve been waiting eight years for this.
On their new single, “World of Inconvenience,” Melvins mainman Buzz Osbourne lends a vocal assist to Dub Trio doing what Dub Trio have so masterfully done for two decades: lay sweet, sweet dub grooves over burly, meaty metal riffs. Those sludgy, fuzzed-up guitars drop out, the snare echo kicks in, and oh man… bliss! Welcome the fuck back, Dub Trio, we’ve missed you. As for Buzz’s participation, his croon is the perfect match for both sides of the band’s sound; I can’t imagine anyone better suited for the gig.
The Shape of Dub to Come comes out on April 26th via New Damage Records; pre-order here.
