FIRST REVIEW OF HEAVY METAL IN BAGHDAD

You may remember the press release awhile back about Acrassicauda, Iraq’s only heavy metal band, who were forced to flee the country in the face of some very serious threats. A documentary about the band’s plight, Heavy Metal in Baghdad, recently screened at the Toronto Film Festival, and Russ Fischer at CHUD has the first review. Fischer has almost nothing but great things to say about the movie, and writes: “There’s not an ostentatious tale of drug use or even a pithy, bitchy comment on fashion. This is a layered documentary about young men in very dire straights, and a very good one at that.”

Hopefully Heavy Metal in Baghdad will get a proper theatrical release soon, but in the meantime, you can read the entire review here.
