Bassist Evan Brewer Has Left Entheos

Super-bassist Evan Brewer, who has spent time with The Faceless and Animosity and has released music through his own solo project, can now add Entheos to his list of former bands: Brewer announced over the weekend that he has left the groovy, tech-y death metal outfit.

Brewer’s absence was initially thought to be temporary, as he announced back in June of last year that he’d be stepping back from touring to be with his family, who recently welcomed a child to the world. Brewer has now decided to make that separation permanent, and who could blame the guy? Raising a child is serious business. Brewer’s statement on the matter was short and to the point:

“My time as the bassist of entheos has come to an end. As always, I’m available for lessons, recording, and live performances if the circumstances are right. [email protected]”

Entheos offered the following:

“As many of you know, Evan has been missing from touring recently. Unfortunately, his time in Entheos has officially come to an end. We wish him all the best with his family and future musical endeavors.”

The brevity of each party’s statement has me wondering whether there’s more to the story — none of the usual “thanks for all the memories, friends for life, yada yada” stuff that usually accompanies these parting words — but who knows, Brewer is no longer in the band and that’s that. His unique talents will be missed! Tim Walker of Agamemnon filled in on bass over the summer, but it’s not clear whether he’ll be the one to play on the band’s upcoming dates with Rivers of Nihil, Conjurer and Wolf King. The band has some routing dates with just Wolf King booked before and after that tour; get those here.

All the best of luck to Evan and his family! Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ll hear of his superb bassing talents. Ditto for Entheos, who we’re sure will continue to rock.
