But anyway, Missouri legalized medical marijuana so that’s radical. And Kansas even elected a Democrat as governer and coming from someone who has spent roughly 50% of their life in that godforsaken sate, I didn’t think I would ever see the day. Any week with new Psycroptic is a good week. If you’ve never experienced a 3rd degree burn from guitar riffs, then get ready because Psycroptic will melt your fucking face off. From what we’ve heard so far, Kingdom is dark, epic and aggressive in all the right ways that will leave you feeling all hot and bothered inside. I’m not sure why any of you are even reading this still. Fucking listen to it already and treat your ears. You deserve it.

August Burns Red

I have gone on record as liking August Burns Red several times. I know, I shit on metalcore all the time to the point where I’m as unoriginal as the subgenre itself, but ABR aren’t the kind of garbage metalcore that is popular these days. As for the music, if you’ve ever heard an ABR song then you’ve practically heard them all. They know what their sound is and they haven’t strayed from the formula too much. However, they know how to fuck with things just enough to keep it fresh and even though they’re a Christian band, they aren’t overly Jesusy, which makes it tolerable. So go ahead, rip me if you want. I’ll be in the crowd screaming the words to “White Washed” and “Fault Line until the day I day a alcohol induced liver failure death.

Anal Trump

Other than the absolutely beautiful name of this band, the other hook here is that this is a two-man project featuring Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan and Pinback’s Rob Crow. Anal Trump are currently the only grind band (at least that we’re aware of) dedicated solely to our glorious Cheeto-In-Chief, so it should come as no surprise that this debut EP was released earlier this week on election day. By the way, all of you who didn’t vote are morons. Fight me. Anyway, this is a piece of grindcore art and should be treated as such. Even if you hate grind, it’s worth a listen for a laugh. A saddened, existential crisis laugh, but still a laugh.

If you turned this on and thought, “What the fuck, Boozeman? This is all fucking electronic trancey stuff. Why should I care about this?” then don’t worry! I’ll tell you. Thomas Giles is the name Between the Buried and Me vocalist Tommy Rogers’ solo project. Makes more sense now, doesn’t it? Although I didn’t listen to the second record he put out under this moniker, I absolutely loved the first one and I still listen to “Sleep Shake” regularly. That being said, Outside is a far cry from even that and this sounds absolutely nothing like anything from BTBAM. However, that’s ottally fine with me because rogers is one of music’s mos creative minds and because of BTBAM, he has earned the right to do whatever he wants musically. We just so happen to be lucky enough that the record looks like it will be awesome.

I was excited to shit all over this album since I first learned that it was coming out. However, in the wake of guitarist Oli Herbert’s death, I’ll keep things a little more light because “Fuck Love,” despite the stupid song name, is actually really heavy and good. This is the only good song they’re released since The Fall of Ideals way back in 2006. That album was a fucking banger, but then I learned what a raging dildo Phil Labonte was and I couldn’t continue supporting such an ass clown. So does this mean that the future is looking bright for the rest of the album? Of course not! It’s All That Remains. Don’t kid yourself. But at this point, the only reason I hate this band is Phil Labonte, so RIP Oli.
