Your “Directive”: Listen to the New Psycroptic Song
Psycroptic are now two for two on singles from their new album, As the Kingdom Drowns: between last month’s “We Were the Keepers” and today’s “Directive,” evidence suggests that this might be the Tasmanians’ best album to date.
Because “Directive” is everything that’s great about metal: it displays astounding musicianship, it’s emotional and cathartic and hits you right where you live, it’s dark and epic and cinematic, it achieves a perfect balance of melody and aggression, and its hook is roughly the size of the Empire State Building.
Any metal band that can write something as good as “Directive” should pat themselves on the back. Any band that can do it seven albums and seventeen years into their career? Fuckin’ A, dude.
