Metallica Release Video of 1992 “Shortest Straw” Performance
Metallica have unveiled another video from the upcoming state of the art, top of the line reissue of …And Justice for All: “The Shortest Straw,” as filmed while they were performing in Washington, D.C. on July 17, 1992… the first date of their now-infamous co-headlining tour with Guns N’ Roses. Little did Metallica know that in less than one month, James Hetfield would suffer second- and third-degree burns while the band played “Fade to Black.” Given what a fucking drag this tour ended up being for the band, I’m almost surprised they chose to include this clip at all. To their credit, Hetfield’s vocals are pretty shot, so at least we know they didn’t clean it up after the fact, Kiss-style.
