Omnium Gatherum Go Hard with “Gods Go First”

There are some superficial, likely coincidental similarities between the new Aborted single, “Squalor Opera,” and the new Omnium Gatherum single, “Gods Go First.” Both bands are European. Both bands come from (admittedly very different spectrums of) death metal. Both bands are on Century Media. And both songs’ videos are bathed in neon colors worthy of Enter the Void.

That’s where the similarities end, though. Whereas the Aborted song is kind of a letdown, Omnium Gatherum’s “Gods Go First” is anything but. It’s over-the-top melodic arena death metal; we usually use the term “Death Jovi” for Scar Symmetry, but it just as legitimately applies here. I can’t imagine the track failing to bring a smile to face of any Omnium Gatherum fan, or any fan of this style of metal, period.
