THE AUTUMN OFFERING SHOULD GET BACK TO EMBRACING THE GUTTER, ASAP
Honestly, I don’t know very much about The Autumn Offering, but the song “Embrace the Gutter” was fuckin’ catchy – it owed a lot to the current metalcore scene, but it it wasn’t exactly metalcore; it was like Dave Mustaine wrote a song for Jackyl or some weird shit. It was just this kinda hook-heavy redneck vibe – I dunno. I played it for Vince once when he was fucked up and he went nuts, so…
ANYWAY, the band has a new song, “The Castaway,” up on their MySpace page. it’s from the band’s forthcoming new album, Fear Will Cast No Shadow (a generic metalcore moniker if ever there was one), and it, uh, sucks. Talk about metal by numbers: sheesh. It sounds like the band let some ultra-sales-conscious A&R dude do their writing for them. Lame-o.
