King Dude and Myrkur Cover Abba’s “Winner Takes it All”

I’m not very familiar with Abba’s catalogue (I know, I know), so King Dude’s cover of the Swedish pop legends’ “Winner Takes it All” — featuring Myrkur on guest vocals — is basically a completely new song to me. That said, I like it a lot! It’s completely different from the original, a somber piano ballad in contrast to Abba’s driving disco beat and synths, and side by side listens make for a fun comparison. We’ve always maintained that the best covers are the ones that don’t simply morph the original into a new style but take some creative liberties with the arrangement and structure, and that’s definitely the case here. Myrkur’s role on this track is subtle, but it adds texture to the track and provides contrast to Dude’s booming baritone.
