Ghost Will Publicly Display Deceased “Bodies” of Papa Emeritus I, II and III on Upcoming Tour
Lest you thought those upcoming Ghost tour dates would merely be regular concerts, fans of the band who are willing to pony up for the VIP experience will get a little something extra: a funeral.
As part of the big press conference yesterday in which the band announced two big arena headline shows this coming fall, they also revealed this: the “bodies” of the first three “singers” of Ghost (actually all just Tobias Forge in different costumes) will be out on the road for the band’s upcoming tour dates.
A video the band showed at the press conference (below) delves into the mythology a bit, depicting all the previous Papas being embalmed and laid to rest inside coffins, which will be displayed before the band’s shows at VIP meet and greets.
VIP packages are going for $150 and $275, depending on the level of perks, though I haven’t been able to ascertain if both packages include the ability to look at three dead dummies.
I love the effort Ghost are putting into their mythology — always have — but I think I’ll just stick to a regular ticket and enjoy the band’s theatrical live show for what it is. For those of you who opt for the VIP funeral… uhhh… maybe take some funeral selfies and let us know how it is?
Ghost’s new album Prequelle comes out June 1st; listen to the lead single “Rats.”
