Ghost Announce Two Big Arena Shows at This Morning’s “Special Sermon”
Ghost held a “special sermon” this morning at New York’s famed venue Irving Plaza, at which band characters Papa Nihil and Sister Imperator made a special announcement to Ghost obsessives who hauled into the city and got dressed up in Ghost regalia at 9am on a Monday morning.
Metal Injection reports that the band played some more samples of music from the forthcoming album Prequelle over the venue’s PA, showed a short video clip similar to the ones the band’s been releasing recently (embedded below), then made the big announcement: the band has two very special arena shows planned for next fall, by far the biggest headline shows they’ve ever played. The shows are in New York and Los Angeles, which explains why they’re playing neither city on their current tour. Here are the dates:
Nov 16 – Los Angeles, CA – The Forum
Dec 15 – New York, NY – Barclays Center
Both venues hold nearly 20,000 people, a huge step up from the 1,000-2,000 seaters Ghost have been booking of late, so it makes sense why they’d want to steer clear of L.A. and New York in the meantime. Still, that’s a looooot of seats to fill… I wonder if they’ll be able to do it? Something special could be in the works as well — like a DVD shoot — although that’s just conjecture. One thing’s for sure, though: the production at these shows will be way more over-the-top and theatrical than we’re used to seeing from Ghost. And we all know Ghost have a flare for the theatric.
You can watch a replay of the Irving Plaza event below, along with a proper embed of the video that was aired.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10am.
