Boston Marathon Winner Gets Hyped Up by Listening to Babymetal
Congratulations are in order to Yuki Kawauchi, who powered through 38-degree weather to win the Boston Marathon this past weekend in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 58 seconds, becoming the first Japanese man to win the event since 1987.
His inspiration? Babymetal!
In a post-run presser, Kawauchi revealed that Babymetal is amongst his favorite music at the moment, flashing a huge smile to the press corps after his interpreter finishes translating:
“I really like singing songs by X Japan, in particular ‘Silent Jealousy,’ but recently I’ve also been big into Babymetal.”
Separately, a 2016 blog post by Run Keeper named Babymetal the #1 artist “that will help you run faster,” beating out Lucinda Williams and Blue Oyster Cult (?!).
You’re welcome to stop by The MetalSucks Mansion and jam some Babymetal with us anytime, Yuki!
