DevilDriver Announce Release Date + Details for Outlaw Country Covers Album
After hyping it up for more than a year, DevilDriver have at last announced all the details regarding their outlaw country covers album, which will be called — wait for it! — Outlaws ‘Til the End. The album will drop on July 6 via Napalm. As previously reported, the record will include guest turns by Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe and John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash; additional guest appearances will include Blythe’s LoG bandmate Mark Morton (who also worked with DevilDriver’s Dez Fafara on the never-completed Born of the Storm project), Lee Ving (Fear), Burton Seabell (Fear Factory), Hank Williams III, Brock Lindow (36 Crazyfists), and Wednesday 13 (Murderdolls). They even made a new, country-friendly logo for the affair.
There’s no single yet, but this sample of Hank3’s “Country Heroes” (courtesy of Rolling Stone) — featuring Mr. 3 himself — more or less confirms our suspicion that these will be metallicized covers of country songs rather than a major stylistic shift away from DevilDriver’s usual sound.
