Live Album from 1998 Dynamo Open Air Announced, Featuring Pantera and Soulfly
From 1986 to 2005, Dynamo Open Air was one of the biggest metal gatherings in Europe — perhaps in the world. Finding its roots in a parking lot with an audience of about 5,000, the festival grew rapidly over the years, eventually causing the Netherland’s longest traffic jam of 1994 (talk about accomplishments). Over 70,000 metalheads visited the festival that year, with the numbers topping out at 110,000 the following year. Though Dynamo Open Air ended in 2005, the spirit was revived in 2015 and continues under Dynamo Outdoor.
Apparently, over 300 recordings from the festival have been archived and are now being processed for release on CD, vinyl and digital formats, with some arriving on DVD as well. On June 22, you can become the proud owner of the first two of these releases — a time capsule containing performances from Pantera and Soulfly at 1998’s Dynamo. The Soulfly segment will also feature covers of Sepultura classics, as well as guest appearances from Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and Benji Webbe of Skindred. Combine that with the fact that Pantera were at the height of their career when this was recorded, these albums could be legendary. Check out the full track listing below.
