Psychedelic Rockers Earthless Release New Single “Black Heaven”
Three piece instrumental psychedelic rock band Earthless will be releasing their fifth studio album in mid-March. The record, titled Black Heaven, will be the band’s first under new label Nuclear Blast Records. The title track has already been released for your listening pleasure, but is not for the faint of heart; clocking in at 9 minutes, it takes a bit of commitment. But we did the time and enjoyed every second of it!
Right off the bat, an energetic, catchy riff invites the listener in and asks them to stay a while. The track captures old-school vibes reminiscent of Black Sabbath or Deep Purple and gives them the more refined sound of modern production for the ultimate listening experience. There is even a bit of a jam band aesthetic as the musicians dive into their solos full-swing. “Black Heaven” keeps the riffs going and never lets up on the energy for all nine minutes, which is quite the feat if you ask me. While some may not enjoy the repetitive nature of the song, others will surely appreciate the simplicity and overall familiar sound.
“Black Heaven” is an incredibly promising track with fusions of rock, funk, jazz, and psychedelia. There is plenty of grit for fans of heavier music while the song is just accessible enough that casual listeners won’t be scared away. The full album will be released on March 19th (pre-order here), and in anticipation of the big day, Earthless will begin their first leg of their North American tour on February 28th; you can find dates for that underneath the track embed.
