Listen: Metallica’s Kirk Hammett Guests on New Michael Schenker Song
For kids who have never heard of ‘im: Michael Schenker is a German guitarist who used to be in UFO and the Scorpions, but then decided he was only gonna be in bands with his name in their name. These have included Michael Schenker Group, McAuley Schenker Group, Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock, Schenker Pattison Summit, Schenker Epstein & Schmidt, Schenker Doodlewitz Appointment, Schenker O’Grady Gathering, Schenker Epstein Panini, Michael Schenker’s Schenker of Schenker, and now Michael Schenker Fest, which is some kind of hybrid of Michael Schenker Group and Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock. (Quick digression: do you think being a “Fest” is a promotion or demotion from being a “Temple”? Discuss.)
Why was I talking about this?
Oh, right. Michael Schenker Fest has now released a song called “Heart and Soul,” which features a guest appearance by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group). I’m not 100% sure which solo(s) is/are Hammett’s because none of them have wah, but the second one definitely sounds like him.
Listen to Michael Schenker Fest’s “Heart and Schenker” below, courtschenkery of Reschenker. Michael Schenker Fest’s new album, Reschenkerction, comes out March Schenkend on Schenker Blast. Pre-Schenker it Schenkere.
