Machine Gun Kelly Cast as Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee in The Dirt Movie
That movie version of The Dirt they’ve been threatening to make for the past seventeen years is, in fact, finally getting made, and now we have some more casting news: twenty-seven-year-old rapper Machine Gun Kelly (born Richard Baker) has been cast as Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. He joins British actor Douglas Booth, who was cast as Nikki Sixx back in November.

I don’t really know much about Machine Gun Kelly, but he certainly seems like a more appropriate — or at least more obvious — casting choice than booth. Lanky hip-hopper covered in ink? Seems right on the money to me.
Also, he’s, er, ambitious:
i got the movie to hire my little bro as my drum teacher. kept it in the family. ???????? i WILL learn the drums and finish the new album before we start filming.

I don’t know when they start filming, but I’d be shocked if he learned drums in time. I dunno, maybe I overestimate his need for sleep.
The Dirt will be a Netflix production of a Jeff Tremaine film (Jackass, Bad Grandpa). The latest draft of the script was penned by first-time feature writer Amanda Adelson.
